Clan MacLellan, is an extensive Clan family with a multitude of ways in spelling our family name, (Have a look at, "How Do You Spell That?") The family probably originated from Ireland and settled in the South West of Scotland close to the Solway Firth.

Later during the Plantation period some Clan members moved back to North of Ireland and settled to farm the countryside.

Again later with regular famine and then population boom, many fled misery and destitution to risk a new chance in the New World of Canada, New Foundland and the American Colonies. While later again a new wave of emigrants hastened the North Atlantic to settle in the United States of America, Canada, New Foundland, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand.

Funnily some returned to their homeland, allowing a third migration to the four corners of the world.
